Most of my designs come to me while I'm out walking at sunrise. I see vultures almost every morning. Sometimes they're circling high overhead, silhouettes against the sun. Other times they're perched on a telephone pole... or dining al fresco on an extra-large Colorado River toad.
Those mornings inspired the little copper sun on the bail. The brass bail and talons add just enough contrast to make the hand-stamped details stand out, while this fellow's relaxed expression gives him a personality all his own.
Handcrafted from genuine copper with brass accents, this mixed metal pendant is flame-finished to bring out warm, earthy tones and sealed with lacquer to help protect the finish. Whether you're drawn to birds of prey, or simply appreciate unusual nature-inspired jewelry components, this vulture makes a distinctive focal piece for your next necklace design.

Caring for Patricia Healey Copper
Patricia Healey Copper components are sealed with a clear lacquer to help preserve the vibrant color and protect the surface. Over time, jewelry naturally picks up traces of lotion, sweat, and skin oils, and a gentle wipe with Endust helps keep your piece clean and well cared-for.
Endust is wax-free and silicone-free, with a touch of mineral oil that dissolves smudges and leaves a subtle, clean sheen. This helps preserve the lacquer’s clarity so the copper underneath stays vibrant and beautiful.
For added protection, you can also use Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax Polish. Apply it sparingly with a soft cloth and be sure to buff it out completely. Used this way, it creates a thin, invisible layer that helps resist fingerprints and moisture, extending the life of your lacquer finish.
