African trade beads were used as currency dating back to the 15th century! I love working with these beads because no two are alike, they’re rustic, colorful, and handcrafted. I added elements of copper and leather. The ear wires are made from a non-allergenic metal called niobium. We make the ear wires here in my studio. (Niobium is used to implant pace-makers).
